Colors

This may be a stupid question, but I've been getting a lot of comments lately that I can improve the colors in my sigs.

How do you artists with more experience decide what colors you use and is there a simpler way to choose colors that mesh well together? I know that using the color wheel to find complimentary colors or other contrasts is one way of choosing colors, but how do you possibly remember all of this?

Once you get it, it's there. Just think of ways they'd go together. For instance, blue and green are nice but something like blue and yellow works great. It's all about the surrounding too. Think it out first. Also, if you have a feeling something has too much of a warm/cool feel, use a photo filter of the opposite to balance it out (if needed). I'm not gonna go on much longer because A) I'm not that good. B) You should experiment for yourself.

Even though no one says it most artists will cheat and use a generator for their color schemes kuler@adobe.com works well.

I try to keep it non monotone, while still keeping similar colors. I also like to keep them vibrant.
