Alright, guys, lets get a few things clear about ripping, copyright and all ill types of shit that graphics artist use to make tags.

Ripping: So you think you've been ripped on? or seen people steal your art work? Than ripping is stealing other people's work and claiming it as your own.

So, without regard to thinking that people dont know, he took it, used it, cropped it, and claimed it as his own in a class thread. Now why do you think he did that? because he's stupid. Don't rip, you will get caught, banned and burned on a stake because your stupid cock sucker.

Now, what could possibly be wrong? Well, he used photomanipulation to create it. Ok, and what else? Are the photo's his? no. Did he ask permission? Probably. Is he selling this? No, its just a tag, nothing for profit. Hmmm, interesting.

So what did Mainard do? He got a few stocks from: http://davehillphoto.com

So, what of it? Even though the images are copyrighted, he still was able to maintain consent from the designer/photographer to use his work legally as long as it wasnt being done for profit. That was the creators consent.

Ok, so as long as I take someone's stock(s), and give credit, im ok. Yes and No.

Those of you putting "Dont put stocks in your pack, these are copyrighted by Joe Schmoe" are dumb in doing so. You, the stock maker, are taking credit for stocks you collected, BUT never took one photo shot ever! DO NOT DO THIS! THAT STATEMENT CAN GET YOU INTO LEGAL TROUBLE. You think its not true? Google up "getty image law suits". Getty Images are catching people who take thier work, and are fining people up to $1500+ dollars per picture! Who the fuck has $1500 for one fucking picture? Why!? Because they are copyrighted images taken by huge corporations who get paid to take the pictures and distribute them for profiting.

Anyway, just be sure you get permission on certain items, post proof, and youll be ok. This topic can be long, very long, but im sure you get my fucking point.

On another note, wallpapers. They are distributed for free. Can you use them? Im guessing you can. Just dont use it for profit. How about CGWallpapers.com? Same response above. Remember, CGWallpapers arent selling you the art, just a service. What service? To get high quality wallpapers for you to masterbate to all day long. They get work from the creators, and post them all for free, but ONLY sell you a service. Think of it, as a mixtape. Mixtapes arent sold for the music because its underground music which is sold for free! Yes, Free. So why do they charge $15? Because they sell you the services, I.E. CD Disk, CD Case and Artwork! Think about it!

Renders? Who cares. Get them from Planet Renders, use them, and dont make packs. They DO get permission from a lot of people to do what they do.
